FABRICS AND MINDSET

The tradition, the craft and the techniques, the handmade in small scale, unique, tradition connected and timeconsuming craft is the essence of Matter of Fabrics. Away from the massproduction and instead be a part of a slower and smaller process. Honest, present, more in balance with the nature.

Knitted products by Matter of Fabrics in cooperation with Åsa Pärson. We launched a number of smaller knitted collections with blankets and scarfs. The design is timeless and simple to allow the textiles a wide range of use during a long time.

In high quality - machine knitted but finished by hand.

Woolen blankets in various knitted relief patterns (raw and after treated)

Knitted 1-threaded woolen scarfs. Machine made and finished by hand.

PATCHWORK

Knowing women (it was mostly women) hitorically used this technique for remake pieces from broken and small bits of left over textiles - to make new and beautiful pieces - the patchworks feels very up to date.

Velvet left over samples reused. Patchwork with the limitations and opportunity the materials size and colour gives. A great way to work little backwards. Also a sustainable work, that is one of the most important mind set and way of acting, for all of us.

EMBRODERY

Handembroderied in linnen and wool threads. Still do some of these on request.

WEAVING

To weave is magic. To start with threads that grow into a fabric. Slowly and beautifully. A technical challenge if you want. Alot of skills needed to go deeper into the craft and the art of binding threads. One of my favorite techniques. I have done most of handweaving, but also tried the industrial.

Yukata for Yasuragi Hasseludden.

Designed in the Japanese pattern Asanoha, that is believed to bring health and a long life. The pattern is also found in the interior architecture of the new SPA.

The new yukata was a part of the large project of the all together restored Yasuragi SPA. Completed in January 2018 and I was part of the team at the architect firm DAP Stockholm, that had the commission of designing the new Yasuragi.

Reused and remade from an existing fabric at home.

This one in an old left over fabric designed by me - now a useful basic bag with little twist - used by my daugther - happy it is non plastic!
